Menlo-Atherton wide receiver Jalen Moss announced his commitment Friday to Fresno State on Instagram live.

He was offered by a number of schools, but narrowed it down Oregon, Oregon State and Fresno State as finalists.

“It came down to me liking Fresno State the most, the school and the coaches,” Moss said. “It was an opportunity to play sooner, which I love, and to try to get to the next level where I want to go. But also just to have fun and enjoy the experience.”

Moss has 43 receptions for 861 yards and 11 touchdowns in eight games this season. In three years as a varsity receiver, including his five-game junior season, he has 90 catches for 1,721 yards and 23 touchdowns.

As a freshman Moss was called up to the varsity late in the season, played defensive back in the CCS playoffs and came up with a game-clinching interception in the final minutes of the Division I championship game against Wilcox.

A history exists of wide receivers from East Palo Alto, such as Davante Adams and Keesean Johnson, going to college at Fresno and moving on to the NFL.

“I would love to follow that path,” Moss said.
