Sacred Heart Prep scored three goals within two minutes of each other in the second period, snapping a tie and leading to a 10-6 victory over host St. Francis in the semifinals of the Central Coast Section Open Division girls water polo tournament Tuesday.

In the Division I semifinals, Nina Albers scored four goals, one of five different players with at least two goals, and host Gunn beat Valley Christian 17-2.

Both teams advance to Saturday’s finals at San Benito High. Sacred Heart Prep meets Soquel, a 16-10 winner over Leland, and Gunn plays Mitty, which beat Willow Glen 7-3. Times are to be determined following the boys semifinals on Wednesday.

Natalia Szczerba scored, with an assist from goalie Paedrin Gillett, with 2:57 remaining in the first half. Brienz Lang, getting an assist from Ella Woodhead, scored less than a minute later and Lucy Homer scored on a power-play with 55 seconds left before halftime.

Sacred Heart Prep also scored the first two goals of the third period to take its biggest lead of the contest.

Lang led SHP (25-2) with three goals. Homer and Szczerba each added two and Woodhead finished with a goal and three assists.

Ali Giusti scored three goals to lead St. Francis (18-10). Tiffany Maguire added a pair and Sara Withers also scored.

Gillett recorded eight saves for the Gators and Mason Spencer had six for the Lancers.

The Titans (18-10) recorded 15 steals as a team, with Albers leading the way with five. Kenza Ashworth scored three goals and added four steals.

Gunn took control of the game in the second period, shutting out the Warriors 6-0.

Pooja Bucklin and Siham Arsalane each added three goals and Ravina Nath scored twice.

Sawyer McKenna scored once and added five assists. Jayden Kratt had six saves.
