As it turns out, Pinewood’s Elle Ladine had a lot more left after a monster game against The King’s Academy earlier this week.
Her encore was a 33-point, 9-rebound effort in Pinewood’s 89-37 West Bay Athletic League victory over Notre Dame on Friday.
Alex Facelo added 16 points and Skylar Chui had 11 rebounds.
On Saturday Ladine led Pinewood to a 66-61 non-league win over Monte Vista of Danville with 33 points and 16 rebounds at the Carondolet Showdown in Concord.
Facelo made three 3s and scored 12 points, Emily Lee had 11 and Jade Ramirez 8. Pinewood (10-1) was 9 of 30 on 3-point attempts.
The Panthers trailed 45-37 heading to the fourth quarter before erupting with 29 points over the final eight minutes.
It also turns out that Los Altos sophomore Natalie Holm has been hiding part of her basketball talents.
Until Friday, Holm had never scored more than eight points in a varsity game. Her scoring average was 4.1 points per game.
Holm scored 15 points to help the Eagles (11-4, 3-3) get back into the win column with a 40-29 victory over Wilcox on Friday night in a Santa Clara Valley Athletic League De Anza Division game.
Holm, who also had 10 rebounds (her season high is 14), had scored 20 points combined in her previous seven games. Macy Watson added eight points.
Los Altos, who plays at Homestead on Wednesday night, has played its full De Anza Division schedule and that makes it hard to determine where the Eagles stand. All but Saratoga have played fewer league games.
The Eagles lost three games by a combined 11 points, or 3.67 points per game. That’s how close they are to being one of the league’s top teams instead of being in fourth (by percentage).
Palo Alto (12-1, 3-0) beat Saratoga 59-34 on Friday to remain tied with Los Gatos (14-1, 3-0) for first place.
Kaella Peters scored 15 points, all on 3-pointers, to pace the Vikings, who have won 10 straight. Freshman Katherine Garr added nine points as one of 11 players who scored for Paly.
In the El Camino Division, Mountain View (10-4, 5-1) beat winless Cupertino 51-24 on Friday to remain a half-game behind leader Monta Vista.

After losing to Santa Clara 47-44 on Friday, Gunn came back to beat Carmel in a non-league contest Saturday, 56-50.
Zara Wang (5 points, 5 steals, 9 rebounds) sparked a fourth-quarter rally with her hustle on defense and rebounding.
Carmel Tong hit a pair of 3-pointers to help give the Titans (9-6) the lead and Vallory Kuelker, who scored a game-high 20 points, made her free throws down the stretch.
In the West Catholic Athletic League Saturday, St. Francis defeated Presentation 68-25, a day after edging Valley Christian 59-57.
The Lancers (11-3, 2-2) moved into third place behind Mitty and St. Ignatius. They host Sacred Heart Cathedral on Tuesday.
Girls soccer
Woodside moved into first place in the Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division following Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Hillsdale.
Rachel Mull scored a goal and recorded an assist for the Wildcats (11-0, 3-0) while Sofia Bellver-Ayman also scored and Elise Evans had an assist.
