Hale Baskin, a local music talent who graduated from Menlo-Atherton High School in June, will return to Fremont Park in Menlo Park to close out the free summer concert series on Wednesday, Aug. 15, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Ms. Baskin, who just finished recording her second CD, has been honing her skills as a professional jazz singer since the age of 11.

She recently toured Europe along with the M-A Big Band, performing in Austria, Germany, Switzerland and France.

“I hope to do it again one day, maybe with my own band,” Ms. Baskin said.

Since her performance at Fremont Park last summer, her music career has flourished considerably. In addition to singing at notable Bay Area jazz spots, including Pearl’s in San Francisco and Yoshi’s in Oakland, she was named the vocalist for the SFJAZZ All-Star High School Ensemble and performed with the group at various local venues throughout her senior year of high school.

“They are incredibly talented people in our area, and I can’t wait to see where they go,” she remarked.

Her second CD, “Classic,” on which she covers a range of jazz standards, will soon be available for purchase on her Web site.

In the fall, she will begin college at the University of California, Davis; she plans to major in animal sciences with a minor in music. She intends to audition for the university’s big band once she arrives at school, she said.

At her Aug. 15 concert, Ms. Baskin will play an up-tempo set, backed by a full band, she said. She is looking forward to playing with saxophonist, Danny Hull, formerly of the Doobie Brothers.
