Either take him to dinner this week or give a gift certificate he can use whenever he wants.
Menlo Park restaurants have been relying entirely on take-out services after San Mateo County social distancing measures indefinitely prohibited the use of inside and outdoor dining areas. And all restaurant owners are now operating in survival mode, a condition that will continue even after inside dining is allowed. The reduction in seating capacity will remain a huge financial problem for business owners and their employees, one with no end in sight.
This week the County authorized the use of outdoor dining areas starting June 6. However, most downtown Menlo Park restaurants have inadequate outdoor dining space, and some have none. They need our help. (They also need our city to support them now, not months from now.)
I recommend that you either support a favorite restaurant or try a different one for the first time. You will be safe, treated well and appreciated. My wife and I have been ordering take-out for weeks and have felt both the pain and appreciation of our local restaurant owners.
We are all living in stressful times. I encourage you to help our community and all our local businesses.

We can highly recommend Shiok. It’s a local family-owned restaurant with a huge menu with a wide variety of different Asian cuisines. Try something familiar, or take a chance on something you’ve never had before.
