Following the release of a 166-page report that found no merit to Sheriff Christina Corpus’ allegations against County Executive Mike Callagy, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Thursday to close the complaint during an 18-minute special meeting.
The report was commissioned after an email by Corpus to then-Board President Warren Slocum alleged discrimination, harassment and retaliation, which she further repeated in subsequent legal claims and public statements, according to County Attorney John Nibbelin.
The county commissioned the report on January 9, at which time Callagy said he supported making it public, according to Nibbelin.
The investigation was conducted by Christina Ro-Connolly, a partner at Oppenheimer Investigations Group LLP. Ro-Connolly’s investigation did not sustain any of Corpus’ allegations, according to the board.
One hour after the meeting, at 11:18 a.m., the county posted the 166-page report.
In a subsequent vote during the meeting, the Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to consider Corpus’ complaint closed with no merit. They also directed county staff to take no further action regarding Corpus’ complaints.
Corpus and her staff did not attend or speak at the meeting.
Oppenheimer has conducted other high-profile investigations into law enforcement officials, including in Marin County. The investigative law firm focuses on investigations involving workplace harassment, retaliation and bullying.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
