
Here are the local residents who died recently:
Dana Parsons, 75, who grew up in Palo Alto before moving to Portola Valley, was the owner and President of Kielty & Dayton and an accomplished photographer, surfer, traveler and music appreciator, died on March 13, 2025.
Laura Brown, 83, was a Mountain View resident for 46 years, serving as the Branch Manager with the Social Security Administration in the Palo Alto, Mountain View and Sunnyvale offices until retiring in 1988, and was an active public servant in her community, died on Feb. 23, 2025.
Janet Scholl, 82, was a dedicated nurse and nursing educator and a devoted and loving mother, whose Catholic faith was an integral part of her life, and who will be remembered for her kindness, dedication, and unwavering love for her family, her profession, and her faith. She died on Feb. 25, 2025.
Susan Schneider, 90, was a Menlo Park resident and longtime member of the Junior League of Palo Alto-Mid Peninsula and a founder and longtime volunteer at the Discovery Shop in Redwood City, which supports cancer research. She was an accomplished designer, traveler and student of the world, who died on Feb. 19, 2025.
Terry Carlson, 64, a farmer, outdoorsman, gardener and swimmer, developed a deep love for agriculture, but it was his caring nature, sense of humor, and kind heart that truly defined him. He died on March 7, 2025.
Virginia McKim, 98, had a fruitful career in advertising and public relations, later earning her master’s degree in creative writing and going on to publish several books. She died on Jan. 26, 2025.
Rebecca Ackerman, 61, a Palo Alto resident, worked in direct marketing, was an avid traveler and an ardent knitter. Rebecca was known for her wit, love of wordplay, and fondness for poems by Edgar Allen Poe. If prompted she could start reciting them to you. She died on March 2, 2025.
Grant Lindholm, 72, a Palo Alto resident and a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, led a successful career in commercial real estate. He spent countless hours volunteering and serving on boards with local organizations. He died on March 2, 2025.
