Local residents who died recently include:

Richard Adamo, 78, a Palo Alto resident who was an aerospace scientist with a four decade career at Stanford Research Institute, participated in the famous Stanford prison experiment and was the holder of five patents, died on May 11, 2025.

Richard Patrick Nuzzo, 89, a Los Altos Hills resident and Air Force veteran who was a longtime Abilities United volunteer and an avid fisherman, died on May 5, 2025.

Susan Chance, 82, a Portola Valley resident born in the United Kingdom who was involved in community organizations including the Peninsula Children’s Council and Ladera Oaks Tennis Club, and who invested in Silicon Valley real estate, died on June 25, 2025.

Gerald Down, 92, a Portola Valley resident, Eagle Scout and Air Force Veteran who worked as a stockbroker and financial adviser, and who was an avid tennis player, golfer and dry-fly fisherman, died on July 5, 2025.

David Schooley, 82, a Palo Alto resident with a doctorate in organic chemistry from Stanford University who worked as an industrial chemist and biochemistry professor, and who was a skier, Giants fan and wine enthusiast, died on June 26, 2025.
