It wasn’t the ending the Palo Alto 11-12 baseball all-star team envisioned but being involved in the District 52 Little League All-Star Tournament produced quite a few memories.

Palo Alto was eliminated from the tournament Wednesday by a very good team in San Mateo American. The 12-1 final score doesn’t begin to do the contest justice.

Palo Alto was really one or two pitches away from escaping a bases-loaded situation and anyone in attendance two days earlier knows Palo Alto has the ability to come back strong if given the chance.

As it was, Palo Alto got two runners on in the top of the fourth. But they needed to score twice to keep the game from ending.

Tye Peavey certainly started the game right, hitting a home run on the first pitch. Battle Scott followed with a single and Justin Fung reached base before things went sour.

Isaac Fredricson collected two hits for Palo Alto and the team was honored after the game with Palo Alto Little League President Kim Nguyen handing out awards.

Nguyen and her staff have been keeping things running smoothly all week. The tournament continues through July 7 (or 8 if necessary) with an outstanding snack shack open all day.

Alpine and Menlo-Atherton both remain in the winner’s bracket. Alpine meets Belmont-Redwood Shores at 4 p.m. Thursday. M-A follows with a 6:30 p.m. game against Foster City.
